What can Women’s Housing Limited assist with?
Women’s Housing Limited can assist with:
– rent in advance;
– rent in arrear;
– discussing housing options; and
– advocating on your behalf.
In some situations Women’s Housing Limited can assist with crisis accommodation, removal costs and purchase of whitegoods.
When do Women’s Housing Limited help with my rent in arrears?
If you are in a private rental you have to be 14 days behind in your rent.
If you are in a private rooming house you have to be 7 days in arrears.
Women’s Housing Limited cannot assist you if you are in an Office of Housing, community housing or transitional housing property.
How can Women’s Housing Limited help with my rent in advance?
Women’s Housing Limited can assist with rent in advance if you:
– have secured a new property;
– are on the lease agreement; and
– the rent is affordable (no more than 55% of your household income).The property can be through a real estate agent or private landlord, it can be a private rooming house or a community housing property.
Women’s Housing Limited cannot assist if you are moving into an Office of Housing or transitional housing property.
How often can Women’s Housing Limited help with funding?
If you meet the criteria Women’s Housing Limited can assist you once in a 12 month period.
How long does the process take?
If Women’s Housing Limited receives all the documentation the process will take about 7 days.
What does affordable mean?
Women’s Housing Limited follows the Office of Housing Affordability Guidelines to determine affordability. The Guidelines state that your rent cannot exceed 55% of your income.
How can I apply for funding?
Funding is available for distribution on the first working day of each week. Clients are to call Women’s Housing Limited at 9am on the first working day of each week (i.e Monday). All callers are listed on a client list and the Initial Assessment and Planning workers return the calls in order of listing. At the end of the assessment the worker will ask for supporting documents. After documents are received and reviewed the worker will contact the client.

How much can WHL assist with?
There is no set amount. Each client is assessed on an individual basis. The amount of funding we can assist with may be up to 1 weeks rent.
Are all women eligible for funding?
No, only single women or women in same sex relationships are eligible.
