On 16 June 2021, the Victorian Government announced the further easing of restrictions. The following settings apply to Metropolitan Melbourne from 11:59pm Thursday 17 June:
The five reasons to leave home no longer apply.
25km travel limit has been lifted.
Masks must be carried at all times and must be worn indoors. Masks are no longer required outdoors where you can maintain social distance.
You should continue to work from home if you can. Office work has increased to 50% or up to 20 people if total workplace is 40 or less. Masks are still required in workplaces.
Permitted to have two visitors to your home.
You can now gather outdoors with a maximum of 20 people.
Schools return to face-to-face learning for all students.
Cafes, restaurants and pubs will reopen with density limits and QR codes in place.
Retail and beauty care will also reopen with masks and QR codes mandatory.
Additionally businesses like gyms and indoor entertainment venues permitted to reopen.
Travel to regional Victorian Alpine Resorts permitted providing visitors have had a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departing Melbourne.
